# CableForge — Design System Brief (hypothetical)

**Direction:** Depart (this is a competitor positioning exercise — no existing brand to preserve)
**Confidence:** High

## Brand thesis

CableForge is positioned as the **Application-First, Spec-Transparent** rope manufacturer — engineered cordage where every product touch surfaces breaking strength, stretch, and weight as live, traceable data. Competing directly with Samson Rope (heritage-led, dated), Denver Rope (small-shop custom), and New England Ropes (premium marine brochure-ware).

- **Tagline:** "Engineered cordage, matched to your application."
- **Founded:** Tacoma, WA (1979)
- **Audience:** B2B procurement, riggers, marine engineers, naval/defense buyers
- **Tone:** Technical, confident, transparent — opposite of legacy-marine-brochure
- **Certifications:** ISO 9001:2015, MIL-DTL-43511, NFPA 1983

## Variant bets (override the generic Anchor/Showcase/Signal patterns)

Three radically different design directions to give the client meaningful options:

### Mockup 1 — "Live Instrument" / Data-cockpit
Treat the page like an engineering test bench. Monospace numerics, exposed grid lines, high-density spec readouts, terminal-style live-data ticking. Cool slate palette + a single high-contrast amber signal accent. Heavy on the configurator and pull-test telemetry.

### Mockup 2 — "Forged Material" / Heritage-Refined
Premium editorial. Display serif headlines, warm graphite + oxblood/rust palette, generous whitespace, large rope close-up imagery, magazine-like layout with a strong vertical rhythm. Heritage and craftsmanship led, but never brochure-ware.

### Mockup 3 — "Engineered" / Brutalist-Tech
Uncompromising functional minimalism. All-caps display sans, big technical typography, monochrome black/white/concrete with one acid hazard-yellow accent. Asymmetric grids, exposed measurements, technical-drawing aesthetic.

## Source structural baseline

All three mockups derive their information architecture from the wireframe at `library/wireframe-patterns/compositions/rope-competitor-homepage.html` — same 8 sections, same content roles. Differentiation is *visual interpretation*, not structure.
